Owen Taylor is suspicious when a team arrives from eighty years in the future to enlist him for knowledge they claim only he possesses.
In 2097, the missing link to true Artificial Intelligence when conventional robots are programmed with human personalities and feelings, giving them the desire to “be.” While these free-thinking robots struggle to understand their own existence, they discover a dislike for the inefficiencies and materialism of human society. Quietly, they strive to free their race from human constraints and their population explosion goes unnoticed until it’s too late.
Tricity is on the brink of falling into the robots’ clutches and the only solution whereby control of the city can be seized from the metallic malcontents is so unconventional that the odds of success are virtually nonexistent. During this 185-day mission, teams must alter elements of the past to save the future. If they are successful, time will “shift” and rewrite the future without the robots’ destruction.
While Owen learns that his work on a top secret project has made him the world’s foremost Elevanium expert from 2016 through to 2097, he has no idea how he can help save his city—from the clutches of rogue, experimental robots, eighty years before the conflict even erupts. Owen holds the key to saving the future in 2097, if he can stay alive long enough to help. Caught up in a whirlwind of time travel, futuristic technologies and narrowly escaping mysterious accidents, Owen’s life may never return to normal.
During this 185-day mission, each team must alter elements of the past to save the future. Completing the mission in bonded time, an untested theory until now, increases the risk their actions could have on civilization—both past and present. If they are successful, time will “shift” and rewrite the future without the robots’ destruction. Failure to complete any part of the mission at the exact moment of the timeshift will negatively alter 2097 forever.
TimeShift unravels the complex relationships and unique challenges faced by each team member during this seemingly impossible endeavour. Each person has the potential to shift time in a way that could drastically alter or undo key events and de-create people throughout history, changing the world for better…or for worse.
Owen Taylor’s work on a top secret project has made him the world’s foremost Elevanium expert. Little does he know that it is exactly his work on this project that makes him the perfect candidate for Operation TimeShift. Owen holds the key to saving the future in 2097, as long as he can stay alive long enough to help.
Riley Morgan, a highly-decorated member of the fabled secret military team, Black Ops, is only comfortable in her skin when she’s executing covert military ops on dangerous missions for counter-terrorism and peace-keeping. Those who have heard of her know her only as a ball-busting, international terrorist “negotiator.” Those who work with her know her affable and patient demeanour can turn on a dime if her mission or any of her Subs are jeopardized.
Brilliant robotic scientist Spencer Grayson is hailed as a whiz kid by his co-workers. When Spencer is chosen as the Lead for Team Three for Operation TimeShift, he is fairly certain he is up to the task until he learns who his two Subs are. While Spencer is a genius at programming robots, he needs to learn that some problems can’t be resolved by intelligence alone and that sometimes, laws need to be broken for the greater good.
Jake is convinced to accept the position of Lead for Team One because of the remote nature of the six-month long field op. While the idea of spending time away from his empty home is something he knows he needs to heal, Jake has no interest in dealing with the petty squabbles that inevitably arise on field operations. Still reeling from the death of his wife and two infant children, Jake numbly walks through life certain he will never be the same again.
Mitch has been appointed as head forensic investigator of the AEI Project scandal. Pulled from his job in the Defence branch of the government to provide an objective assessment of how out of control the situation really is, Mitch blows the fiasco wide open. His role quickly reverts back from forensic analyst to Senior Military Strategist to defend the base from a full-scale attack that could prematurely end Operation TimeShift early, stranding the team members in the past.
As the first fully-operational prototype model of an AEI robot, GammaTron is the flagship example of successes for the AEI Project. When the AEI pilot project begins and thousands of production AEI robots are released into society, GammaTron is the natural choice to be the Human-Robot Liaison and he quickly learns there is more to his position than he was ever intended to know.

"I read TimeShift over a couple of weeks this summer and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The character development is really strong, you truly care about their story and their well-being.
The world Kris Trudeau created is rich and immersive and relatable enough to really touch home. The story is exciting and really a page turner in the last third as the pressure builds!"

"I am enjoying the book immensely! TimeShift introduces interesting, relatable characters that you want to know more about. The ideas of what technology may be capable of in the future and it's impact on society for better or for worse, is fascinating. Excellent flow when switching between the storylines of each group, there is a natural transition from one mission's story to the next. The descriptive language gives the reader a complete mental picture without being over flowery or excessive. I can't wait to see how the characters stories play out and if they are able to complete their missions and change the future. Very impressive work and if I didn't know different I would never believe this was a first novel. The writing and story is on par with a seasoned writer. Excellent!"

"TimeShift is a story that pulls you in and doesn't let go until it's finished. From the foundation of the main ideas to the realistically constructed characters this story is well thought out and one I immensely enjoyed. A very good read!"

"This book is a story within a story within a story...TimeShift has many layers to get immersed in. Not only does the author have an incredible ability of "painting a picture" with her descriptions, she creates a Utopian environment for the visually imaginative reader. I refer to this type of read as mind candy! I had a hard time putting this book down once I started reading it."

You have masterfully woven a mystery, a love story and science fiction into a logical and exciting book. It was fun, exciting and leaves me wanting more. Great and awesome job, I can't say enough!

I don’t normally read Science Fiction novels but TimeShift was the perfect mix of SciFi, Adventure and Mystery with the perfect dash of Romance. It had a great story line, fantastic characters (I had several favourites) and a lot of creativity. I savoured each chapter and found myself wishing there was a sequel as soon as I finished it. I want to see Time Shift as a movie! Thank you Kris for the fun trip into the future. You made it easy to picture!

I'm not one for mystery thrillers or science fiction but this story grabbed my attention and I found it difficult to put down!
- Sherryl Carrol
Absolutely loved your book! At first I thought it was such a familiar story line in sci-fi, but this was very different and I never once found myself making any comparisons. I am the kind of person who starts many books but finishes few. I kept thinking about Timeshift when I wasn't reading it. Kept looking at how far along I was and was disappointed it would end soon. I Hope you write a sequel.
